Nigel was last elected in May 2023 when he was elected to Otley Town Council and is one of the councillors representing Manor Ward.

However, he is an experienced Town Councillor having served 2 previous terms from 2003-2007 and 2011-2015. He served as Town Mayor from 2014 to 2015, including during the Tour de France Grand Depart in Leeds.

Since being elected in 2023, Nigel has worked alongside our other Otley Labour Town Councillor, Richard Davies, to acquire brown bins for the Ramsey and Hamilton Terrace and North Avenue areas of the town for those residents who requested them.

Nigel has also been successful in working with Leeds City Council to fill in substantial amounts of potholes, notably numerous ones near the Ellar Ghyll recycling centre on Bradford Road, outside the Post Office and Library and on Burras Lane near the Parish Church.

Nigel also worked with other councillors, campaigners to campaign and bring the X84 service, which First Bus had originally cut and replaced with other services.
