June

June started with the Community Committee Chair's Forum - discussion surrounding how we'd reach out to more forums and media presence for more access to residents.Â
I met Kieran Bradshaw, who is a resident in Horsforth, local artist, who has just finished a mural project outside Elland Road in Leeds. (Leeds heroes show their approval for new mural | Yorkshire Evening Post - newspaper - Lisez cet article sur Magzter.com
Kieran is passionate about bringing his art to Horsforth, he especially would like to spread awareness around mental and physical wellbeing to be a talking point for communities and expressed through his art.
I met with 'Red Flags' theatre production, one of their team members, Ebony, lives in Horsforth. We looked at possible funding for local high schools so that healthy relationship dynamics discussion can be engaged with our young people, you can find out more about their work here:Â Empowering Change: Soundproofbox Against Domestic Abuse
11th June was Internation Play Day and I was invited to Wellington Central for a dynamic workshop and presentation from various departments including Active Leeds, Playful Anywhere and Leeds Teaching Hospital on the importance of play for children and making this accessible in all environments.
I met with Victoria ( our young resident at St Margaret's School) , Youth Services and local volunteer Cathy, to pull together all the last details for 'Horsforth Olympics' that took place on June 22nd on Low Lane Rec.
I attended the Climate Emergency Advisory Committee with 'Climate Adaption' on the agenda, you can find the recording from the meeting here:Â https://youtu.be/AsKlyT6Ac-c
I attended the Scrutiny Board for Adults Health and Active Lifestyles https://www.youtube.com/live/OpiufkZ3fMk?si=yXBnrZR9xFpUO1Ga

I attended the LBA Meeting held at St Margaret's Church, which was set up in order to have a Q & A with information on the airports plans and engagement.Â
We had a Community Committee briefing and Extraordinary meeting called by Cllr Harland, as there are many changes from the council's review on community committees.Â
I attended North & East Plans Panel which looked at the application for works for an education facility and works to Mount St Mary's Catholic High School, and also the development of 352 new dwellings which will be a conversion from offices.Â
Last but certainly not least the 'Play on Low Lane Rec' went brilliantly and reportedly enjoyed by all - it was a pleasure to meet all of you that joined us. Sun shines on Horsforth play event - West Leeds Dispatch

I met with Heather and Ian from The Salvation Army, who are looking at funding for 'The Victory Project' which is a focus towards cooking skills / workshops for families and residents locally to Horsforth.Â
I chaired the first formal Outer North West Community Committee meeting, held at Guiseley Theatre. We assigned roles to Cllrs on this board and approved our first round of funding to local organisations - including the Red Flags production theatre from Sound Proof Box.Â
The Civic Full Council meeting took place, around 7 hours long, this consists of discussion, questions and updates from all 99 elected Cllrs in the Leeds boundary. Tracy Brabin attended and I asked a question on funding for Anti social behaviour, you can see in full here:Â https://www.youtube.com/live/FOk89mFZJtk?si=0W_B4ZKW5H1IRITm
My question is at 43:45
Myself and my ward colleagues funding LS18 Uniform Exchange, through MICE funds, for storage boxes, so that this vital and environmental project can continue. This means the uniform is now being stored at St Margaret's Church over the summer holidays and will appear at events such as Breeze.Â
I met Kieran (local artist) again, this time with Horsforth Garden Shop, to see if their building may be possible for Horsforth's first designs by Keiran. Watch this space!Â
